Pharem has been granted EU-funding – Horizon 2020 SME Instrument Phase II

We are excited to announce that Pharem has been granted EU funding. While passing the parameters of Horizon 2020 SME Instrument Phase II the company has been granted € 2M for the installation of PFS in operational environments at 4 sites globally, in Sweden, the Netherlands and Malaysia.

To be chosen amongst the several thousand applicants is a testament to the innovation and success Pharem have achieved with PFS (Pharem Filtration System) in the global wastewater treatment sector. PFS has been proven to address the issue of organic micropollutants (such as pharmaceutical residues) present in effluent wastewater with a disruptive technology. The development of Pharem´s advanced enzyme technology, which is used in PFS but also other applications and products, allows us to offer an effective and sustainable model that requires little to no energy to run.

Horizon 2020 SME Phase II is granted to innovative companies by the EU Commission that have demonstrated a potential to change competitive conditions within a market and be “potentially disruptive” to current conditions present within their sector. Further considerations for qualifications are enterprises with fewer than 250 employees, with a strong growth potential and an ambition to become world leaders in their field.

At Pharem Biotech, we are dedicated to water sustainability through the introduction of products that are affordable, efficient, and adaptable for clients and for society at large. Founded in 2013 in Uppsala, Sweden we have since established ourselves in the fields of water treatment and biotechnology. Our broad expertise and team of dedicated scientists have led to the development of a complete platform technology for the removal of organic pollutants from wastewaters in households, municipalities, and industry.

Christian Ryen, COO of Pharem Biotech says that “We look forward to embracing the opportunities that H2020 provides us in leaving our mark on global water sustainability.”
